Water Quality Officer

All Aspects Recruitment & HR Services are currently seeking an experienced Water Quality Officer for a temporary role for approx. 3 months with possible extension.

Responsible for monitoring and reporting on drinking water regulatory compliance against relevant guidelines and/or licences and objectives. Under guidance, develop solutions for the short and long-term management of water quality issues in consultation with relevant government agencies, the community and industry across the Northern Territory.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the routine drinking water monitoring, including liaison with samplers, internal stakeholders, air charter companies and laboratories.
  • Assess, investigate and report upon the performance of drinking water treatment processes and operations in achieving regulatory compliance with Australian Drinking Water Guidelines and objectives.
  • Identify and implement solutions for the short and long term management of water quality issues in consultation with the Department of Health, Environmental team, community representatives, and customers.
  • Provide water quality advice and assistance to Coordinators, Senior Coordinators, Scientist, Engineers and Senior Managers.
  • Participate in the on-call roster by manning the after-hours mobile phone to provide assistance to the business as required.
  • Carry out duties in accordance with Power and Water's safety and environmental policy, safety principles, corporate values and behaviours.

Requirements:    

  • Scientific degree or Engineering degree recognised for Professional Membership with Engineers Australia.
  • Experience in water quality monitoring, guidelines, parameters, practices and procedures.
  • Proven technical knowledge of water treatment systems including experience in identifying and implementing improvements to the performance of such schemes.
  • High level data management and analytical skills, with a demonstrated ability to use oral and written methods to communicate technical information effectively.
  • Well-developed interpersonal, oral and written communication.
  • Ability to foster positive working relationships across key stakeholders and a culturally diverse range of customers.
  • Proven ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
  • NT drivers licence or ability to gain one upon appointment.
