Do you have experience operating heavy machinery and a passion for maintaining safe, clean environments? We're seeking a motivated Waste Transfer Station Operator to help deliver essential waste management services.
About the Role:
In this hands-on role, you will perform multi-operational tasks using a forklift, backhoe, and front-end loader at waste transfer stations. You'll work as part of a dedicated team, ensuring the efficient and safe disposal, processing, and stockpiling of waste and recyclable materials in accordance with policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate and maintain waste transfer stations on a day-to-day basis.
- Use plant and equipment to handle waste and recyclables safely and efficiently.
- Deliver friendly and helpful customer service, assisting with offloading and recycling inquiries.
- Identify and report non-conforming or unauthorised waste materials.
- Ensure waste is processed appropriately and that the site remains safe and tidy.
- Complete daily inspections and minor maintenance on plant and equipment.
- Participate in safety documentation processes and promote continuous safety improvement.
- Safely operate vehicles and equipment per operational policies.
- Work rotating shifts, including weekends, across multiple transfer station sites.
What We’re Looking For:
- Proven experience operating forklift, backhoe, and front-end loader.
- Strong awareness of safety protocols.
- Solid understanding of waste management operations and environmental considerations.
- Ability to communicate effectively and provide high-quality customer service.
- Physically fit and able to work in an outdoor environment in varying conditions.
- Flexible with working hours, including weekends and rotating rosters.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license – C-Class
- Tickets/licences for operation of relevant plant and equipment (forklift, backhoe, front-end loader)
- White Card (Construction Induction Card)
